Mala's real name was Naseem Nazli and was born in
Faisalabad. Her elder sister Shamim Nazli a music composer taught her
essentials of music and introduced to renowned composer, Baba G.A.
Chishti. Her first major break in the films came in 1962. She sang a
simple composition "Aaya ray dekho sawan Aaya" in the film 'Sooraj mukhi'.
Mala's first super hit song was 'Dil daeta hai ro, ro, duhai kisi say koi
pyar na karay' from film 'Ishq per zoar nahi'. The last days of Mala were
fraught with loneliness and misery. Her immense pain and suffering came to
a halt on March 6, 1990 when she said farewell to the unjust
world.
